May we introduce us to you. We are Karin and Peter van der Zwaan and our three children, Willem, Ine and Bart. Since 1982 we live at the Oranjehoeve in a small village called Helenaveen. This village is situated at the border of the provinces Noord-Brabant and Limburg, in the middle of a wonderful National Park “De Peel”
Approximately 150 years ago, a great part of this area has been used for peat extraction. After this period, in the area between the two villages Griendtsveen and Helenaveen, several farmhouses have been build, the so-called “Koningshoeves”. These farmhouses were build with Financial support of the fund “King Willem III”. Therefore all these farmhouses carry a name which refers to our Dutch dynasty. Our farmhouse, “De Oranjehoeve” has been a farm for almost 100 years. The past 25 years we have run a dairy farm. Due to the fact that our farm was situated in the middle of an area, which was officially determined to be wetland, the area had to be redeveloped, meaning that we had to look for another challenge. As Karin had a great experience in the catering industry, we decided to start a Bed and Breakfast. To realise this we have rebuild the farmhouse into a nice accommodation.
